More info

This species is a burrower and does not require a hide in its enclosure. It's also one of few truly communal tarantulas and as far as OW species goes, this guy is pretty manageable. (Not that I would recommend handling) Gigas is a fast growing species and a good eater. Crickets, lizards, frogs and mice are perfectly acceptable meals for this spider. This species will stridulate if agitated and has medically significant venom should it posture and bite, but is more likely to retreat than fight. This unique spider is the only tarantula species that will swim! They will dive for fish, frogs, ect. All that needs to be provided for this species to thrive is a water dish, deep substrate and an enclosure large enough for it to tunnel in comfortably. Such an AMAZING species, although not recommended for beginners
